This utility updates PMB versions 1.1 through 5.8.01, and Cyber-shot Viewer version 1.0, to PMB version 5.8.02 and provides the following benefits:
Adds the capability to burn 3D and 60p/50p videos on Blu-ray Disc* media without being converted
Note: Requires the PMB Blu-ray Disc Add-on Software. If the add-on software is already installed, it is not necessary to install it again.
Adds support for SEN (Sony Entertainment Network) ID when uploading to the Personal Space* service

Important Notes

To install this update it is necessary to have Picture Motion Browser version 1.1 d-deOCL 5.8.01 already installed on the computer.
Different Sonydl® digital imaging products support different features of Picture Motion Browser software. If you have more than one Picture Motion Browser install disc, it is strongly recommended to install all versions from the original install discs before installing this update.
The computer must be connected to the Internet in order to use the PMB Updater.
Make sure the Picture Motion Browser is not running when installing the version 5.8.02.
During the installation of this file, be sure that you are logged in to the computer as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
It is highly recommended that you print out these instructions for use as a reference during the installation process.

Feature Changes When Updating Version 5.3 or Older

If you are updating Picture Motion Browser version 5.3 or older, certain functions will be removed by installing this update.
The following functions included in some versions of Picture Motion Browser will no longer be available:

Download and Installation Instructions

To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
Click the 'Download Now' link at the top or bottom of this page.
At the 'Software Agreement' page, read the agreement, then, if you agree, click 'Accept Agreement' to continue with the download.
Download the PMB56_Updater1105a.exe file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
The computer must be connected to the Internet in order to use the PMB Updater.
Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the PMB56_Updater1105a.exe file to run PMB Updater.
PMB Updater verifies the information necessary for the download, and then downloads the Picture Motion Browser version 5.8.02 update.
IMPORTANT: PMB Updater transfers information about the version of Picture Motion Browser installed on the computer, and what Operating System is being used, to the server administered by Sony. Sony uses this information solely for the purpose of management and diagnosis for providing the Picture Motion Browser update program. PMB Updater does not transfer any information that may identify an individual.
When the download is complete the Picture Motion Browser update process will start automatically.
Note: Depending on the settings of your security software, the program may not be downloaded. In this case, please check the settings of the security software, and then try the download again.
Please follow the on-screen prompts carefully to complete the installation.

Installation Verification (Optional)

Please follow the steps below to verify that the update has been installed.
Start the Picture Motion Browser software.
On the Menu Bar, click 'Help' and then select 'About Picture Motion Browser'.
The Picture Motion Browser Version number should be 5.8.02.xxxxx
Note: If the version number is not 5.8.02.xxxxx, please re-run the Download Manager and install the update again.

How to Install the Blu-ray Disc* Add-on Software

If you have a Sony AVCHD camera or camcorder, and computer with a Blu-ray Disc burner, you can create high definition videos in Blu-ray Disc format from videos recorded with the Sony AVCHD camcorder by using Picture Motion browser and the Blu-ray Disc Add-on software.
Note: Approximately 50 GB of available disk space may be required to create discs in Blu-ray Disc format.

Notes on Using the Upload Function

It is recommended to connect to the Internet when you first use Picture Motion Browser after installing the update, so that you can obtain the latest online service information.
If the 'Information Tool' screen shown on the right appears, please select 'Check for program updates now' and click 'Enable Automatic Notification' to always obtain the latest service information.
Note: To manually run the 'Information Tool' click the icon on the menu bar and then select 'Get the Latest Media Services'.
